“They advocated for themselves as much as they could with as much as they had. For their education, their respect, and their rights to their own bodies and life paths.”
This whole piece is gorgeously written. And these lines paint the ropes that make up the net of support so beautifully.
Wow Adaeze, this one had me tearing up this morning. There seem to be endless examples of bad things happening to good people in this world. It's extremely disheartening on the one hand, yet it magnifies the goodness of some people while underscoring the tragic flaws in others. It also gives good people the opportunity to show just how beautiful they are inside. Thank you for being one of those people and for sharing with us so we can be inspired by your strength and vulnerability.
“The very existence of anguish, destruction, despair, and betrayal means that, somewhere near, there is also an abundance of healing, reclaiming, hope, joy, and love.” Yes! I believe this. Thanks for naming this. I also went through a betrayal after 29 years of marriage- it was hope and a belief that i could find love for myself that saved me. Wonderful writing….thank you fir being so brave
I’m so sorry you went through a betrayal too. But hearing stories like yours gives me hope that things will keep getting better. Thank you so much for reading! ✨
I love this passage you shared! This is proving itself to be true in real time. “After being sufficiently pummeled, the dough must rest.” Yes! Beautiful said. Thank you for the well-wishes and thank you for reading and sharing! ✨🪶
I’m always celebrating ‘overcoming’ because it is the way we propel, we mend and we keep on with it. The beauty of ‘overcoming’ is in the ‘over’
Over the Betrayal
Over the self doubt
Over, Over, Over
Thank you for your courage. It’s not easy to say “no- I cannot live with this.” AND make a move.
But you have done it.
Overcomer!
Isé!!! Thank you for reading and for being there for me as this thing unfolded. Love you plenty ❤️❤️❤️
